Noah's Flood + Adam & Eve
$20.00
Noah's Flood (excerpts, 29 minutes 1976, color, in Russian) with Adam and Eve (excerpts, 32 minutes, 1973, Moscow, color, in Russian).
The original productions of Obratsov's famous Noah's Flood, and The Creation: Adam and Eve are each over an hour and twenty minutes long, and both have long dialogue scenes with live actors playing the divine characters.
This new DVD has been especially edited to make these productions more accessible for the non-Russian speaking viewer who is interested in puppetry. These excerpts emphasize the puppet scenes only, and allow the viewer to appreciate the artistry of the design and manipulation of the rod puppets that are trademarks of Obratsov's famous Moscow Company.
Filmed in Moscow in 1973 and 1976 under the personal supervision of Sergei Obratsov, this new DVD, is chaptered by scene, and has also been digitally enhanced.
These films are, however, over 30 years old, so even with the digital image enhancements, the video quality is good to fair.
Intended for the serious puppetry enthusiast, these films, even edited, should not be viewed strictly for entertainment value, especially by non-Russian speakers
